Series
The Speakers'
Series provides information and resources to enable individuals
and families to adequately respond to the health care questions
and issues they face each day. Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis,
stress management, and mental health are just a few of the topics
presented by knowledgeable guest speakers. The inaugural presentation
of the Speakers' Series featured Patti Reagan Davis on "Angels
Never Die...My Father's Gift of Faith."

Health Care Screenings & Education Seminars
The Nix Health Care Foundation provides the community with education and resources to help people address the health and wellness issues they face each day.
The Foundation sponsors medical screenings and seminars on a wide range of topics, including:
- Diabetes
- Stroke
- Heart disease
- Vascular disease
- Osteoporosis
- Colon cancer
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Treatments for hip, knee and back pain
- Nutrition
- Macular degeneration
- Memory disorders
- Sleep problems and disorders
- And many more
The Foundation
has collaborated wih community businesses and organizations such
as the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, the Center for
Health Care Services, University Health System,Bexar County Medical
Society, Downtown YMCA, WOAI TV4, H-E-B Central Market, Walgreen's,
Kmart and Oak Farms Dairy to disseminate health information to the
public. The Foundation has also taken its programs to community
centers such as the Ella Austin Community Center and Christian Senior
Services.

Nix Senior Gold
Nix Senior Gold,
sponsored by the Nix Heath Care Foundation, designed in partnership
with physicians, is a senior health and wellness program for adults
from age 55. Benefits of the program include: monthly Smart Living
Seminars, annual newsletter, preventive health
services, field trips, and special member discounts.

Resource Center
The Nix Health Care Foundation Resource Center includes health education brochures on a wide-range of topics for patients, family members and the general public plus internet access via two computers to find answers to health questions.

Sports Medicine Center
The Nix Health
Care Foundation Sports Medicine Clinic provides intensive support
and quality medical care to student athletes in the Bexar and surrounding
counties. Evaluation and treatment of injuries is provided by physicians
who volunteer over 300 clinical hours annually. High school athletic
trainers and student trainers, who are usually first on the scene
at a sporting event, observe the treatment of athletic injuries
to enhance their own skills. Orthopaedic Fellows are given the chance
to observe the latest techniques in sports medicine diagnostic evaluation
and treatment under the guidance of experienced professionals at
the Clinic, which is an accredited teaching facility.

Alumni Club
Through the Baby
Alumni Club, the Nix Health Care Foundation recognizes people born
at the historic Nix Hospital. Members receive a certificate commemorating
their birth and updates on activities and special events.
